@3Escom (Friend or Foe ?) ---------------- By M.S.C (again !)
@5
Escom, now there's a name that rings a bell. Let me see........OHHH..
I know who they are ! Yes, of course.....they're the company that bought
Commodore. You know, the one that promised to advertise the Amiga more
than Commodore did, the one that said that they had the best interests of
the Amiga at heart, even though they sell P.C's as well.
Now to be perfectly honest, I have never doubted Amiga Technologies
promises, I have never said that Escom were Dog-Shite (apart from small
lapses of memory) and I still think that AT could still push the Amiga
as either a high-end presentation system, or a rendering system. We all
@5
know that the Amiga has the best price/performance ratio, and is also
the easiest computer to use in the whole world. In fact, just between
you and me that is, I've actually sent off a little letter to Escom
detailing a plan to take over the world using Amiga written virus programs.
These would destroy all P.C's on the planet, and would mean that Escom
could step in and replace all of them with Amigas ( or Amega Amigas - see
other article ).
Anyway, I feel that AT could really be on in a good thing, as soon
they get some more money from the parent company. You see, you have to
remember that Amiga Technologies are a daughter company of Escom, in the
@5
same way that Commodore-Amiga was a daughter company of Commodore
international. Anyway, as soon as they get some money, they can really
get going on some R&D (Research and Development) programs. Some things
that they could spend the money on are :-
1) Join forces with Silent Paw Products (See other articles for
details on that company). They could then flood the market with Amiga
portables, so that people like me ( read: rich ) could buy one, and then
wouldn't have to use CrossDos and a Psion Organiser 3A all of the time.
These portables needn't cost more than £1500 pounds ( including a
Hard-Drive ) and would be absolutely amazing.............probably.
2) Produce an amazingly high-end computer with a 68060, oodles of
@5
memory and an extra special super f*cking huge hard-drive (I'm talking at
least 3 gigabytes here), and sell it to the people using Silicon Graphics
Workstations. It'd be just as good, but A LOT cheaper. (And I mean A LOT)
3) Spend at least £10,000 on buying a hugely expensive computer.....
.....and give it to me ;-)
4) Sell a book full of smilies : meet cheep....the robot who'll
always be your friend :]
5) Get their bollocks into gear and start advertising the Amiga.
And if they don't do it.....I for one will be sending nasty threat
letters telling them off straight away.
6) Give $5000 to Jon Anderson so he can have a Hair Transplant.
7) Give me and Converse a job.
@5
On the whole, I would really say that Escom could be a friend or
a foe, and that we'll just have to wait until the new PowerPC board comes
out for the high-end Amigas, and/or when the supposed new ' PowerAmiga '
comes out either this or next year......now......where have I heard that
one before ?.....Oh!.....I wonder. (I mean Commodore for all those thick
b*st*rds out there (hello Molgrat).
@6
ALL THE ABOVE IS A LIE, AND IT IS AN OFFENCE UNDER THE PORNOGRAPHY ACT
TO READ SUCH FILTH......CONSIDER YOURSELVES VERY WELL TOLD OFF.
NAUGHTY BOYS. ( Or girls - depending on what you want to be, oh..hello
Molgrat. )
